Generator bank 7 days to die3/29/2023 ![]() They are an offshoot of mining tunnels under my base. I am still in process of building the NW and SW ZDP's (Zone Defense Pylons).īelow the pylon is a 5x5 room with a switch, and hatch access to view (shoot) out of the ZDP. It will draw more when active up to 300W (and battery life if the generator is off). I currently draw 136W for a perimeter electric fence (+2 SMG on front/ back door) and 193W when NE and SE zone defenses are also sensing (each has 4 sensors w/ 4 SMG). The maximum relates to the quality of the batteries in the battery array (6 x lvl 6 = 300W max). I power on the gas generator to recharge the battery array as needed, but mostly each zone requires 6W, 1W for the switch and 5W for the sensor minimum. I wire from a generator to battery array to a handy on/off switch to a motion sensor to defenses in that zone. Practically, power requirement for turrets, and other power consumers are often greater than just a motion sensor. IOW, I can wire from a gas generator or solar array to a single battery storage device to a circuit that can split to a tree of multiple powered devices. I don't know how much power a battery bank even stores (There isn't a number for overall storage, just maximum watts) so there's no way I can do the math to even know how many I might need.Ĭurrently in my experiences wiring, and I am pretty novice, attempting to connect parallel power sources on a circuit results in disconnecting the previous source. I might add in some lights at some point as well. I'm not even sure if I'll need multiple, but I wanted to set up some solar for my main base, and I'm not sure about the power lasting through the night (I play with 2 hour days, so my nights are 30 minutes.) All I'm looking at running is 4 SMG turrets (for screamers) and 2 motion detectors/triggers for a couple drawbridges. I recall in the old days that having multiple battery banks caused serious lag issues (or at least so I read, I've never actually used one before) and I was wondering if that was still an issue. Unlike the 10x10m wall you need now to cable manage.Just curious if it causes issues having multiple battery banks (in series or parallel.if that's possible in game.honestly not sure on that one) in the same circuit. And this allows partially for more ingenious combined traps / switch designs, because you can actually make logic panels on your walls in a small 1x1m section. Take a look at Rust, how you can path cables on walls, way better and cleaner. Cable management is a joke with the current design. Most people stop playing when they are barely out of the stone ages, simply because the little bit of later content has no use.Īlso, electricity is ugly. Power tools with batteries ( hello Subnautica again ) as another tier. Its so focused on base defense and nothing much beyond that ( sure, lights ). And your maze base makes blood moons a joke.Īnother reason is simply the lack of usefulness of electricity. No different weather patterns where specific foods do not grow, forcing the player to eat different food.Īnd yes, electricity like a lot of stuff is behind a lot of gates, where you will probably be tired of that world already, as you are a demi-god in skills. Food has real no benefits beyond a few buffs and basic stamina. More recipes that you can use with the stove, have no use because everybody eats egg + meat. Problem is also there are no mechanisms in game to attract you to electricity.įood does not spoil, so no reason to get electricity + fridge. Electricity is so deep into the game that by the time it's available to be used, and especially by the time you can use it consistently (build what you what instead of scrounge and scavenge), you don't need it, and probably aren't even thinking about it.Įlectricity needs to be available earlier, possibly with smaller amounts or smaller uses so that players can actually get into using them before they're level 80+ sitting in a concrete fortress Maybe there could be a lot more done with electricity. I've played nearly 2 dozen different new games since A17 first experimental.both SP and MP with one friend (separate games for each) and each experimental build. ![]()
